The Cleanser Truth: Why “Clean” Isn’t Always Clinical
By Alan Araujo — Founder of Lux MedSpa Brickell
💡 Clean Doesn’t Mean Clinical
In today’s skincare world, “clean” has become a trend — but at Lux MedSpa Brickell, we know that clean doesn’t always mean clinical. I’ve tested dozens of so-called gentle or hydrating cleansers that claim to be barrier-safe. Yet only a select few meet the standard of a true clinical spa formula: pH-balanced, performance-driven, and biocompatible.
🧴 1️⃣ Beauty Bliss Collagen & Honey Cleanser
“Deep clean and hydrating” — but that’s where the illusion ends.
- Surfactant: Sodium Laureth Sulfate (harsh detergent base).
- Add-ons: Collagen & honey appear last on the ingredient list — too low to deliver results.
- Preservatives: Methylisothiazolinone & Methylchloroisothiazolinone (high allergenic potential in leave-on exposure).
Verdict: ❌ Not clean, not clinical. Strips skin lipids and triggers rebound oiliness.
🧴 2️⃣ La Soie Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser
“Hydrating” in name, dehydrating in effect.
- Base: Sodium Laureth Sulfate + Cocamidopropyl Betaine (medium foam yet drying for many skin types).
- Actives: Multiple forms of hyaluronic acid without encapsulation or pH control.
- Fragrance: Contains linalool and synthetic parfum.
Verdict: ⚠️ Over-cleanses, leaves the barrier vulnerable; not ideal for spa or post-treatment care.
🧴 3️⃣ Beautymark Foaming Ceramide Cleanser
“The closest to a real clean formula — but still not clinical.”
- Strengths: Ceramide NP, vitamin E, and hyaluronic acid for barrier support.
- Weakness: Sodium Olefin Sulfate base is too strong for compromised skin.
- Preservation: Benzyl alcohol & dehydroacetic acid — cleaner, but the product is still fragranced.
Verdict: ✅ Good consumer cleanser, not clinical-grade. Safe for daily home use; I wouldn’t use it for medical facials.
🌿 4️⃣ Cosmedix Purity Solution — The Clinical Gold Standard
“This is what clean-clinical truly means.”
- Base: 100% detergent-free oil blend (olive, kukui, argan, sesame, neem).
- Actives: Vitamin E, turmeric, neem, retinyl palmitate, and basil for antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.
- Preservation: Ethylhexylglycerin + caprylyl glycol — FDA and EU compliant.
- Texture: Luxurious cleansing oil that leaves skin calm, nourished, and primed for treatment.
Verdict: 💎 True spa-grade formulation. Clinically clean, barrier-protective, and safe post-peel.

🩺 Alan’s Final Takeaway
“Clean might sound good on a label — but at Lux MedSpa Brickell, we define skincare by performance, not packaging. Our cleansers must be clinically clean: restoring pH balance, rebuilding the barrier, and preparing the skin for transformation.”
